In the preschool this term we have been learning about emotions and feelings. This topic helps the children to understand and interpret their own emotions and feelings. It also assists them to decipher what is being communicated by others.
We have discussed a range of emotions and feelings, thought of instances when we have felt like that and ways we can express/manage that feeling best. The children have enjoyed listening to stories about emotions, using playdough to make different faces and singing the song ‘If you’re happy and you know it’.
They have also experimented with acting out different emotions using their facial expressions and body language. In extended day each child made an ‘Emotions and Feelings’ book where they labelled photos of themselves acting out different emotions.
