Our Preschool students have been learning all about plants. The study of plants has included looking at the different segments of a plant such as the leaves, stem and root system. We have looked at the four seasons and how plants and trees change in warm and cold weather. Students have learnt about what plants need to grow and have enjoyed watching seeds germinate indoors. Outside of the classroom students have raked up the Autumn leaves, spent time growing herbs and vegetables and have planted a hedge of Hardenbergia along the preschool fence line.

Giving students ownership of the garden through watering, weeding and harvesting, teaches them about being responsible. Learning how plants grow can teach a lot about sustainability and the importance of caring for the environment.
